The course requires ITEC Anatomy and Physiology Level 3, or equivalent, and Professional Conduct and Business Awareness although you may study these at the same time. Please be aware that this will incur some additional cost.
Aromatherapy is a beautiful addition to your therapies which brings a new depth and uniqueness to each treatment.
Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy that uses essential oils produced naturally by plants and trees. This therapy actively works on emotional and physical improvements to enhance and aid well being.
The syllabus includes:
The history of aromatherapy and the holistic approach.
The effects of the oils on the different systems of the body.
Information and use of 42 essential oils and the storage of the oils.
Information and use of 19 carrier oils.
Effects and benefits of using hydrolats in treatments.
The ways in which the oils are extracted and chemical constituents.
Frequency of treatments and consultation.
Provide treatments using specific aromatherapy oils for client benefit.
Provide full body aromatherapy massage treatments for clients.
Evaluate specific needs for client
The course consists of supervised practical massage training and tutorials with assessments and home study, which includes case studies. All lectures are supported with presentations and teaching aids. Classes are kept small.
There will be 40 case studies to undertake; 10 people 4 times. You will be using the oils to help with a condition or ailment, so a full body massage may not always be needed.
